About the Project

Since 2012, Uptown Live has been one of the signature street festivals in New Westminster. Taking over Uptown New West near 6th Street and 6th Avenue for one summer day, the event includes live music on multiple stages, plus interactive exhibits, local artisans, food vendors, and fun for everyone.

Project Objective

To manage the marketing and promotion of Uptown Live 2024

Project Deliverables & Results

  • Created and curated social media content, and engaged with the community, over the event promotion period.
  • Created social media advertising campaigns and monitored results.
  • Coordinated social media giveaways with key partners.
  • Distributed two press releases to announce event dates and musician line-up.
  • Identified media outlets for ad buys and negotiated media sponsorship, including Z95.3 and New West Record, to more than double the ad investment.
  • Successfully negotiated to have Z Squad and Taylor Swift “Sign The Car” on location, which prompted additional social media and on-air mentions via Z95.3.
  • Submitted event details for listing with digital and traditional media
  • Coordinated with other contracted marketing vendors (e.g. graphic designer and web developer) to execute all marketing activities.
  • Provided live social media coverage throughout the event.
  • Supervised two volunteer photographers on location.

Four Tourism Businesses & Individuals Recognized for Being EPIC in Richmond

December 14, 2023, Richmond, BC — Tourism Richmond is pleased to announce the winners of its 2023 Richmond EPIC Tourism Awards. Four tourism businesses and individuals received an award for embodying the destination marketing organization’s EPIC core values: Excellence, Passion, Integrity and Collaboration.

“We live out these values everyday through our partnerships with community, travel and tourism stakeholders,” explains Nancy Small, Chief Executive Officer of Tourism Richmond. “These awards are a great way to bring everyone together – to celebrate the industry and recognize achievements.”

Now in its second year, the Richmond EPIC Tourism Awards celebrate the people, places, experiences, and attractions that make Richmond a vibrant and welcoming place to visit. Winners were chosen by a panel of individuals involved in Richmond’s tourism industry, and were recognized among their industry peers at Tourism Richmond’s Year End Celebration held on November 30.

About the Project

#ReDiscoverNewWest (RDNW) was a joint COVID recovery initiative among a number of business associations in New Westminster, to encourage locals to visit the city to explore, shop, eat, and play. Partner associations included the City of New Westminster, New West Chamber of Commerce, Downtown New West, Uptown Business Association, and Arts New West. In 2022, RDNW wanted to launch an influencer campaign and needed assistance with project coordination.

Project Objective

To develop and execute an influencer campaign on behalf of ReDiscover New West.

Project Results

  • Created and managed the @rediscovernewwest Instagram for nine months.
  • Curated and created content for @rediscovernewwest.
  • Coordinated a nine-month influencer campaign, including recruiting and managing 14 influencers, creating the agreements, overseeing content schedule, collecting analytics, facilitating campaign meetings, liaising between partner associations, and coordinating payments.
  • Created original content via @vanfoodies (example on Instagram and TikTok)
  • Generated close to 225,000 impressions through the influencer campaign with an average 9.6% engagement rate per influencer post.

Krista Bax to Lead BC’s Tourism HR Association with a Fresh Perspective

February 25, 2020, Vancouver, BC — go2HR — BC’s tourism human resource association — is pleased to announce the appointment of Krista Bax to the role of CEO. Krista is poised to lead the organization on an exciting new path forward after going through significant organizational changes last year.

Krista brings more than 20 years of experience in various strategic leadership roles. Prior to joining go2HR, she was the Senior Vice President, Western Canada of Context, a strategic engagement and communications firm. From 2009-2017, Krista held senior positions at the Asia Pacific Gateway Skills Table, and was promoted to Executive Director in 2014. Krista also has extensive experience in occupational health and safety, primarily in the forestry industry. She holds a MBA and B.Sc. from the University of Alberta, and she has completed the Not-for-Profit Program developed by the Institute of Corporate Directors and the University of Toronto’s Rotman School of Management.

To create and execute a marketing, promotional and PR plan for the Mid-Autumn Moon Event on September 13, 2019, as well as the garden’s new Artist-In-Residence program

Project Results

  • A $0-budget plan that not only utilized client’s own website, e-newsletter and social media, but also resulted in earned exposure with more than 30 digital and traditional media outlet
  • Developed event description, social media content, media advisory and press release
  • Responded to media inquiries and coordinated interviews
  • On-site media liaison at the event
  • Media coverage included CBC Radio, CBC News, Spice Radio, Ming Pao and Sing Tao
  • Event attendance exceeded the target by 40%
