Four Tourism Businesses & Individuals Recognized for Being EPIC in Richmond

December 14, 2023, Richmond, BC — Tourism Richmond is pleased to announce the winners of its 2023 Richmond EPIC Tourism Awards. Four tourism businesses and individuals received an award for embodying the destination marketing organization’s EPIC core values: Excellence, Passion, Integrity and Collaboration.

“We live out these values everyday through our partnerships with community, travel and tourism stakeholders,” explains Nancy Small, Chief Executive Officer of Tourism Richmond. “These awards are a great way to bring everyone together – to celebrate the industry and recognize achievements.”

Now in its second year, the Richmond EPIC Tourism Awards celebrate the people, places, experiences, and attractions that make Richmond a vibrant and welcoming place to visit. Winners were chosen by a panel of individuals involved in Richmond’s tourism industry, and were recognized among their industry peers at Tourism Richmond’s Year End Celebration held on November 30.

The Four Seasons and The Nutcracker Suite is held at the iconic Orpheum Theatre on December 11, 2022.

“We are excited to play two perennial favourites of the season, Tchaikovsky’s The Nutcracker Suite and Vivaldi’s The Four Seasons at this concert,” says Vancouver Academy of Music President & CEO, Joseph Elworthy. “One of which is a holiday staple, and another perfectly depicts the passage of time and seasons – there’s nothing more fitting than these two pieces.”

Inspired by festive holiday treats, The Nutcracker Suite will whisk the audience away to a faraway land full of musical delights and indulgences. VAMSO’s Concertmaster, Caitlin Wong, will take the spotlight as the solo violinist in The Four Seasons, filled with musical images of harvest celebrations, thunderous storms, frozen landscapes, and festive pastoral dancing. In addition, John Adam’s Short Ride in a Fast Machine is rich in fast-paced rhythms and textures, mimicking the feeling of getting into a fast car.

Pre-order Opens for BC Live Spot Prawns Pick-up or Home Delivery

May 5, 2021, Ladner, BC — Live spot prawn season opens on May 14, and BC Live Spot Prawns & Seafood is now accepting pre-orders of live spot prawns for home delivery or pick-up at the Ladner Wharf or False Creek Fishermen’s Wharf.

A small business based out of Ladner, BC Live Spot Prawns & Seafood (BCLSPS) provides customers with the freshest, wild-caught seafood directly from its network of five local fishing families. Customers are guaranteed only wild-caught, sustainable, antibiotic-free and hormone-free spot prawns, salmon, sablefish, halibut, and other live, fresh, or frozen seafood products. 

Right now, customers can go to the BCLSPS website at bclivespotprawns.com to place an order for live spot prawns. In-person pick-ups are available at the Ladner Wharf starting May 15, or at the False Creek Fishermen’s Wharf starting May 17. The spot prawn season generally lasts for 30-40 days.
