Free Indonesian Coffee Festival on April 24, 2025
The first of the Java Series hosted by Archipelago Foods
April 10, 2025, Vancouver, BC — There will be a FREE Indonesian Coffee Festival for one day only on Thursday, April 24, 2025. Presented by Archipelago Foods in partnership with the Consulate General of The Republic of Indonesia and Indonesian Trade Promotion Center in Vancouver, this event is not to be missed by local coffee roasters, cafe owners, and coffee enthusiasts.
“This event is perfect for anyone looking to explore the world of Indonesian coffee,” says Liza Wajong, Co-Founder of Archipelago Foods. The company recently introduced “Archipelago Kopi Indonesia”, a collection of blends and single-origin coffee beans from different regions of Indonesia. “We are excited to have producers flown in to join us to share about the rich culture and tradition of coffee-making in Indonesia.”
There are three parts to this one-day event:
- Crop Cupping for the 2025 harvest, hosted by the Kopi Indonesia HUB team from Gravfarm in the West Java region of Indonesia.
- Conversations on Coffee Craft & Culture with Gravfarm co-founders, Lucy & Yugi, and Mengo McCall, Owner of Coffee Central Roasting Vancouver, discussing the long history of West Java, a historical coffee growing region that brings you “A cup of Java”, its ethical and sustainable coffee producing practices, the nuances of Java coffee, and more.
- Coffee Tasting to explore Kopi Indonesia (Kopi means “coffee” in Indonesian), and learn about different coffee processing methods, such as washed, hulled, honey and natural.
The Indonesian Coffee Festival is held in the Main Hall of the Consulate General of the Republic of Indonesia at 1630 Alberni St, Vancouver. It is free to attend, but online registration is required for each part of the festival at javayvr-indonesian.eventbrite.ca. Capacity is limited, so early registration is recommended.
