Special Dinner Menus at Yue Restaurant to Ring in the Year of the Rat

Many dishes are named thoughtfully in Cantonese with symbolic meaning such as prosperity, success and happiness.
Lunar New Year feast is best shared family style. First, enjoy a unique selection of items such as baby octopus, smoked salmon, jelly fish and surf clams on the Yue’s Appetizer Platter. Oyster is a homonym for “good” in Chinese, indicating good luck. The Braised Dried Oyster and Dried Black Moss suggests good fortune and business success in the new year. Prawns in Cantonese sounds like “ha”, which resembles laughters and symbolizes happiness; therefore, it is no surprise to see Tiger Prawns and Vermicelli in Soy Sauce and Stir-fried Prawn and Dragon Fruit in Mustard Sauce on Yue’s menu. Togetherness is also important in the Chinese culture, so you will find ingredients such as whole chicken, glutinous rice balls on the menu. Their Pork Rib in Special Spicy Sauce embodies harmony in a family, and it is promised to be a show-stopper at the dinner table. Don’t forget to also order a Steamed Whole Fish, as it represents wealth, luck and abundance.
One of Yue Restaurant’s signature dishes is their abalones, which takes days of preparation in order for the abalones to absorb the flavours of their braising broth. The shape of abalone also resembles gold ingots, which stands for prosperity and wealth. Diners can choose from a variety of abalone dishes, such as Japanese Premium Abalone and Australian Abalone with Sea Cucumbers.
Lastly, for those who are looking for gift ideas when visiting friends and family during the Lunar New Year, Yue Restaurant also sells their house-made Rice Cake and Turnip Cake.
